The Sisterhood of the Travelling Dress

The Sisterhood Dress began with a question I couldn’t quite let go of. Could joy be shared between strangers? Inspired by a certain movie about travelling pants, I wondered whether one dress could travel from woman to woman, connecting people who had never met and creating a story that grows with every chapter of its journey.

So far the Sisterhood Dress has travelled across Australia and Europe, visiting 12 women in 12 different places.

Each person receives the dress for one month before sending it on to the next. During that time, she makes the dress part of her own life, wearing it in her own way and creating memories before passing it on. Along the way the dress gathers photographs, stories, and moments of joy, each one adding another layer to its journey.

The Sisterhood Dress became an experiment in connection. Each person who receives the dress becomes part of the sisterhood. Some take it on adventures. Some photograph it somewhere meaningful. Others simply enjoy the quiet joy of wearing something that is one-of-a-kind.

For one month, the dress becomes part of their story. Then it moves on, continuing its journey and carrying a small piece of each person with it. In a world that can often feel busy and disconnected, the Sisterhood Dress is a reminder that small acts of sharing can create something surprisingly powerful. A thread of creativity, kindness, and joy travelling from woman to woman.

And now the journey continues.

The Sisterhood Dress is ready to travel again, this time heading to the United States and Canada to find its next sisterhood.

If you would like to take part and host the dress for a chapter of its journey, applications are now open. Because you never know where a dress might travel next, or the stories it might collect along the way.

How the Sisterhood Dress Works

  1. Apply to take part

Women who would like to host the dress can apply through the application form.

  2. Receive the dress

If selected, the dress will be posted to you and you will become part of the Sisterhood Dress journey.

  3. Wear it for one month

You will have the dress for one month. During that time you are invited to wear it, photograph it, and make it part of your own story.

  4. Share your chapter

Each participant contributes photographs and a short reflection so the journey of the dress can be documented and shared.

  5. Send it on

At the end of the month, the dress is carefully packed and sent to the next member of the sisterhood so the journey can continue.

Apply to Join the Sisterhood

The Sisterhood Dress is now preparing for its next chapter and will be travelling across the United States and Canada. Starting in the USA it will travel there from April-June before moving on to Canada for the last three months, July-September 2026.

If you would like to be part of the project and host the dress for a month, you can apply via the link below. Applications are now open until Monday 16 March 2026
